Ilir Vesho has extensive experience in Decomposition, Nitrogen Mineralization, C/N ratio and Nutrient Availability. He was professor of Microbiology of Soil at the Agriculture University of Albania and conducted research for many years on “ Toxic Effects of Pesticides in the Soil, Microbial Degradation and Bioremediation”. He was also consultant for many agriculture farms on soil fertility, fertilizer and integrated pest management. During his tenure in Albania Dr Vesho worked for six years as Chief, Nature Conservation Department and Agriculture Pollution within the Environmental Committee, the highest governmental body of Albania. He lead several projects in collaboration with the World Bank, IUCN and Barcelona Convention. Furthermore he was focal point of Council of Europe for establishing the Econet (ecological network) program in Albania.
In the USA Dr Vesho was awarded the Hubert Humphrey fellowship. He participated in various educational projects including the affiliation program at the Environmetal Agency, Region 10, Seattle, Washington and a training program from the World Bank and the Institute of Monetary Funds.
In 2001 Mr Vesho defended a thesis Master degree on “ Influence of Old-Growth Canopy Gaps on Microclimate, Litter Decomposition and Soil Nitrogen Dynamics in Olympic National Park, Washington”. He has worked on Streamside studies and investigated decomposition and nitrogen cycling processes in the riparian zone.
