Interprovincial Transfer
Effective April 1/09, and consistent with the terms of the BC/AB Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) and the Canadian Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT), BCIA will recognize (for the purposes of granting a licence) those occupations/trades which are currently fully licensed and in good standing from any other regulatory body in Canada.
Thus P.Ags, A.Ags or AITs who are members in good standing (having paid the current year membership fee) with another provincial institute of agrology may transfer their membership to BCIA directly or have dual membership in both BC and their home province.
Transfer In: Transferees are requested to complete the Membership Transfer Form. In addition the transferee should contact the registrar of the institute which they are leaving and request that a copy of their file be submitted to BCIA. Once all the materials are received and processed by BCIA the transferee will be issued a welcome letter.
Dual Membership: Members of another institute seeking dual membership with BCIA are requested to complete the Dual Membership Form. In addition the dual member should contact the registrar of their current institute and request that a copy of their file be submitted to BCIA. Once all the materials are received and processed by BCIA the dual member will be issued a welcome letter.
*BCIA can provide a framed, double matted certificate and/or member's seal at an additional cost. Unframed certificate is no cost.
*A.Ag. transferees should expect to be invoiced for a future double matted, framed P.Ag. certificate and BCIA seal at the current fees (inquire at the office for costs)
*As of September 2009 BCIA does not have an active category for Ag Techs or similar designations and hence are unable to accept members of another institute carrying these designations at this time.
