This provincial team brings together experts in planning, GIS, biology, policy development, modelling, as well as engagement and consultation to plan and deliver recovery actions.
The BC Caribou Recovery Program’s fundamental purpose is to develop, implement, and monitor new management actions and provincial strategies to ensure we are meeting or exceeding provincial and federal population and habitat objectives. The role of the land and resource specialist in the caribou program is to lead the development and delivery of engagement with Indigenous communities, local government, industries, and interest groups on caribou recovery program initiatives including, but not limited to, herd planning. Qualifications for this role include:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) and a minimum 3 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
- Registered, or *immediately eligible for registration, as a fully licensed professional with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e. Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists).
*Immediately means you are currently a fully licensed registered professional member in good standing in another Canadian jurisdiction and can immediately transfer to the ABCFP, the BCIA or the APEGBC
- Significant experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a complex project or regional initiative.
- Experience in managing teams in the context of projects or programs.
- Experience managing relationships with senior level stakeholders.
- Experience with conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices.
