Skeena Region’s Regional Initiatives Division (RID) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager. As the Senior Project Manager, you will manage the development, implementation and evaluation of major projects. Projects are taken from original concept through to final completion in accordance with project management standards. At the same time, you will forge strong relationships and work with other ministries, First Nations, and industry to find the balance between economic development and environmental integrity necessary to support the development, approval and implementation of strategic project plans within the natural resource program area.

As the Senior Project Manager, you will work with a diverse team within Skeena Region and across the Province.  Our work transcends a wide range of business areas. For example, we work on and support strategic-level initiatives/programs such as land-use planning, cumulative effects assessments, policy analysis, climate change, forestry, planning for fish and wildlife management, monitoring, community and First Nations’ Engagement, and many other interesting disciplines.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) PLUS, 3 or more years’ experience working in a natural resource discipline; OR
  • A Masters’ Degree in a resource management related field PLUS, 2 or more years’ experience working in a natural resource discipline; OR
  • An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project or regional initiative.
  • Experience managing project teams.
  • Experience managing relationships with First Nations.
  • Experience managing relationships with senior level stakeholders.
  • Valid B.C. driver’s licence.

Professional Designation:

  • Registered, or immediately* eligible for registration as a fully licensed professional, with a relevant British Columbia Professional  Association (i.e. Association of BC Forest Professionals, BC Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of BC).
    *Note: Immediately eligible is defined as being registered as a professional in another Canadian jurisdiction or another BC professional association referred to above, and able to transfer that membership to a BC professional association within 6 months of employment. It is the responsibility of the applicant to have their qualifications reviewed by the appropriate body to ensure they have the necessary requirements for registration.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who are certified Project Management Professionals (PMP).
