BC GRASSLANDS CONSERVATION COUNCIL (GCC)
GCC AT 20: PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE
SUMMERLAND, JUNE 21-22
Mark your calendars for this upcoming event, a milestone in GCC history. On Friday afternoon (June 21) we will gather in Summerland’s historic IOOF Hall for a series of informative talks on riparian grazing solutions, grassland fire ecology, species at risk and the role of parks and protected areas. Founding member Bob Peart will reflect on the GCC’s first twenty years, and on our way forward. The next day’s carpool field trip will take us to East Vaseux and White Lake, two iconic grassland locales in the South Okanagan. Local ranchers will talk on grazing management, we will hear from a weed expert, and nationally-known ornithologist and MP Dick Cannings will reflect on his enduring connection to BC grasslands.
This two-day event will also include a catered supper (with local wines on offer) on the Friday evening, and lunch in the field on Saturday. Participants will have plenty of time to ask questions, renew acquaintances, botanize and savor the richness of BC’s storied grasslands.
