EVENT REGISTRATION IS FULL - THANK YOU!!

Raincoast Conservation Foundation (a charitable, non-profit conservation science organization) has completed construction on the first of three linear breaches, i.e., channel, across the Iona Island North Arm Jetty in the Fraser River estuary, Richmond, B.C.

The North Arm Jetty is a human-made 6.8 km long structure constructed in 1916 to aid navigation. The goal of this project is to restore natural migration pathways for juvenile salmon and other fish species and to restore the natural movement of freshwater and fine sediments in the estuary.

Dave Scott from Raincoast will lead a walking tour to the breach and will discuss the improvements to the Fraser River salmon fishery the project hopes to see. The walking tour will be followed by a beach social and networking at Iona Beach Regional Park. A light dinner will be provided.

This event capacity is restricted to 20 people. This event is only open to BCIA Registrants at this time. Should there be capacity available by August 1, we will open it to the general public.

This event is held on the traditional territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
