The Compost Council of Canada and SWANA Northern Lights Chapter, in cooperation with the City of Edmonton, are offering a three-day training program to promote technical knowledge and sound operating techniques amongst compost facility operators and those involved with large-scale composting.
This popular course provides participants with an understanding of the composting process and the means to address operational issues involved in the running of a compost facility. Topics covered include:
Feedstock Recovery Feedstock Preparation Composting Curing Screening & Refining Storage & Packaging
Nuisance Control Marketing

About the instructor: Larry Conrad has been involved in the planning, organization, construction and operations of compost operations since the mid 1980’s with the first fall leaf composting operation was started in the Region of Peel where he worked for over 34 years. During that time period he was responsible for the development of the composting capacity required to meet the requirements of the growing Region, including the design, construction and operations of three different compost plants. He has also been involved in the development of the markets for the finished compost in Ontario and has been a long time member of the Compost Council of Canada, currently serving as the National Chair. His teaching experience includes this course as well as several different courses for the Ontario chapter of SWANA.

Registration Fee: Members, Compost Council of Canada: $1200 plus 5% GST for the course
Potential Member rate: $1350 plus 5% GST for the course
Includes classroom instruction, refreshment breaks, and 3 lunches.
Please note: Lodging, other meals and expenses are the responsibility of each participant.
We have not made arrangements for preferred rates at local hotels for this course, due to requirements for the size of block we would need to be able to fill. For those who are not local and will require a hotel in the area, the Clarion Hotel & Conference Centre is nearby and rates for the relevant evenings are starting at around $126/night plus taxes and gratuities.
