What the day includes – Tour of the Shuswap Indian Band Reserve and history of the Band with Suzie Thomas, Community Planner. We will then head to a cultural camp on the Reserve, run by a local family, to learn about various traditional activities.
Where – Meet Suzie at the Shuswap Indian Band office in Invermere at 10:30 am MST. Shuswap office: 492 Arrow Road, Invermere. For those travelling from Cranbrook, meet at the Staples parking lot at 9:00 am to carpool. Bring a bag lunch!!
A travel stipend will provided for those who are carpooling! $75 for those travelling from the West Kootenay, and $35 for those from the East Kootenay. You will be emailed an expense form following the event.
Why – To provide opportunity to meet and engage with local First Nations.
