Demystifying Wetlands: Wetland Classification of BC

Description: Wetlands are a valued ecosystem on the landscape. Come learn about the various wetland classes in British Columbia and how to utilize the Wetlands Classification Guide of BC. In this 1 day workshop, participants will be provided with a combination of classroom and field training. Participants will gain hands on experience with wetland soils, plants and hydrology to help delineate and describe these ecosystems.
Instructor: Neil Fletcher, Manager of the Wetlands Education Program with BC Wildlife Federation, has provided over 100 workshops on wetland identification and stewardship within BC. He is the Chair of the Wetland Stewardship Partnership of BC and has supported numerous inventory and restoration projects.
Date: July 24th, 2019
Time - 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. PST 9:00 am - noon held at Northern Lights College in Fort St. John.
Locations: Room 154 at Northern Lights College for the morning. Afternoon will meet at Watson's Slough (about 40 km west from the college on Hwy 29). Participants can arrange carpooling morning of workshop.
What to bring: Bagged lunch and water. Pen, clipboard, rubber boots, sunscreen, etc. Be sure to dress for the weather.
