The BCIA Vancouver Branch is pleased to announce a 4-week, 4-part seminar hosted by The Project Management Centre of Excellence (PMCOE). The sessions will be facilitated by Dr. Dale Christenson, a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and Project Management Professional (PMP) specializing in project management consulting training and keynote deliveries. He combines an extensive academic background with real-world expertise in the areas of program and portfolio management, organizational development, change management and critical project success factors. He’s held project management leadership and Executive positions in the public and private sectors.

Session 1 – General Project Management (January 4th, 2022)

This Project Management seminar will introduce participants to project terms, concepts, processes, and knowledge areas. This introductory session will also cover the most common problems of managing projects and discuss the critical success factors to improve successful project outcomes.

Session 2 – Stakeholder Management (January 11th, 2022)

This seminar will benefit anyone with multi, diverse or resistant stakeholders.  Topics such as baselining, mapping and engagement will be discussed, and tools for their management, including the psychology of influence and persuasion will be introduced.

Session 3 – Communications (January 18th, 2022)

The Project Communications Management seminar will introduce project practitioners to the art of communication. We tend to do a lot of talking but precious little communication. Communication to key stakeholders needs to be planful and purposeful. This seminar will provide basic communication concepts and explore non-verbal communication, listening skills, generational differences, and presentation skills.

Session 4 – Risk Management (January 25th, 2022)

This seminar will provide participants with the fundamentals of risk management from identification, assessment, response and evaluation. Participants will also be introduced to other project risk types such as strategic, cultural and people (stakeholders, sponsors and teams) risks. Participants will also leave the seminar with techniques for preventing and mitigating these often-neglected areas of risk.

We hope you can join us for this virtual event! Please note that if you cannot attend a session, a recording can be provided.
