Marg Crowley, P.Ag.
Marg Crowley works in the BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy on policy and regulations development for agricultural environmental management and agriculture-related issues. She obtained a Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences, and a Master of Science in nutrition and Immunology from the University of BC in 1990. She became an Agrologist-In-Training (AIT) (now Articling Agrologist) in 1988 while attending UBC, and became a full member in November 1990.
During her ‘AIT’ time, she was the Student Representative, for the UBC/Vancouver Branch (1986 – 1988) and was the President-elect, and then President for the Vancouver Branch from 1989 – 1991. She moved to Victoria in early 1991, for what was supposed to be a 4-month position with the BC Federation of Agriculture. That continued for the next 6 years. At that time she was a Director, and then Secretary/Treasurer for the BCIA Victoria & Islands Branch from 2000 – 2004.
While Garth Bean, P.Ag., was Registrar, she took on drafting a ‘2-pager newsletter’ using an early version of MS Word for the BCIA, becoming the BCIA Newsletter Editor, collecting and drafting articles and doing all the work preparing it for publication, working with the various Councils and Communications Chairs, and which evolved over time to a ‘4-pager’ and then to the newsletter/magazine it later became. She continued doing the BCIA newsletter for many years.
In 2013, with Lynn Lashuk, P.Ag as chair, the Communications Committee developed a formal Communications Plan for BCIA. Subsequently, Marg became the Communications Committee Chair and worked diligently to implement the new Communications plan with the development of the new BCIA logo and website, the BCIA newsletter, and improvement of BCIA’s public image.
Marg was Communications Committee Chair from 2012 to 2015, and continued as the BCIA Newsletter Editor until Fall 2016.
Thank you to Marg Crowley for over 25 years of volunteer service with BCIA.
