The 2020 BCIA Conference & AGM “The Times They are A Changin' : Adaptation in Agrology”
May 20 - 22, 2020, at Sun Peaks Resort, Kamloops
Agrologists like other natural resource professionals are facing many changes within their profession, not only in how the climate is impacting agriculture and the environment, but also in new legislation including the Environmental Assessment Act and the Professional Governance Act. The 2020 BCIA Conference being held at Sun Peaks Grand Hotel outside of Kamloops offers agrologists the opportunity to discuss and learn more about the changes coming to the profession, some of the challenges and what others are doing to address these changes. The conference includes a presentation by Paul Craven, Superintendent of Professional Governance who will speak on "The Implementation of the Professional Governance Act". The BCIA Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 1:30pm to 3:00pm. Check out the Conference Schedule and descriptions of Conference Events.
Council is pleased to announce the enactment of the new Bylaws for BCIA effective March 1, 2020. The Bylaws represent months of work by the Institute's Governance Committee, Council, and staff. The new Bylaws will guide BCIA forward as our profession continues its protection of the public interest and assists in the responsible development of British Columbia’s natural resources sector under the Professional Governance Act. We expect further amendments to the Bylaws by November 2020 to correspond with the full implementation of the Professional Governance Act. The Bylaws can be found on the BCIA website under About BCIA - Agrologists Act, Bylaws & Governance section.
