The B.C. Ministry of Agriculture and Food is presenting a Field Day on Assessing Your Soil.
Are you wondering how to assess your soil health and improve your soil nutrient management? Join the Ministry of Agriculture and Food staff and get your hands dirty learning how to sample, evaluate, and monitor soil on your farm.
What to expect during the field day?
This field event will support farmers to:
- Understand the need for soil sampling in their nutrient management program to maximize fertilizer usage.
- Know where, how, and when to correctly collect soil samples in their field.
- Know how to handle and submit soil samples for laboratory analysis.
- Familiarize yourself with a selection of soil indicators that provide information about soil health.
- Assess and monitor their farm soil health to identify where improvements are needed for sustainable production.
- Know available tools for monitoring soil health over time.
This Field Day will be taking place at Falkland Dairy Farm, Falkland, B.C. Directions will be sent to you once registration has been completed. Refreshments will be provided.
