Determination of Official Election Results for Registrant Councillor -  Electorial District 3

BCIA is pleased to announce the results of its first online election for a Registrant Councillor position in compliance with the Professional Governance Act (PGA) and the new BCIA Bylaws. We thank all three candidates; Yeganeh Asadian, Leslie Berkes and Warren Mills for their commitment to moving BCIA forward. District 3 had 611 eligible registrant voters, 120 of which cast ballots equating to a 19% participation rate.

The incumbent Warren Mills was the successful candidate receiving 51% of the votes cast. Warren returns for his second term which is 3 years in duration in compliance with the new PGA legislation. The full announcement can be found under NEWS.

Update on BCIA Ethics for Professionals Workshop

A pilot course for an online version of the BCIA Ethics for Professionals Workshop has been developed with the first session already full.  The next session will occur sometime in the summer so watch for details on that.  The online course includes a combination of online presentations and discussion forums to be completed within a specified period, followed by a real-time case study discussion on Zoom.  Cost for the course will remain the same.

Other Important Updates

Change to Designations - With the implementation of the new  Registered Technologist in Agrology (RTAg) and  Articling Technologist in Agrology (ATAg) designations, it was determined that the depiction of all BCIA designations should be consistent.  Therefore under the new Bylaws, the depiction of the Professional Agrologist (PAg) and Articling Agrologist (AAg) designations have dropped the periods.  The P.Ag. and A.Ag. remain correct however, agrologists may now use the PAg or AAg designation without periods.

'Orientation to BCIA' and other Articling Webinars - All articling webinars will be undergoing revisions to better reflect the implementation of the Professional Governance Act (PGA) and changes to the  BCIA Bylaws.  Stay Tuned.
