Articling Extension Fee: $60.00

If a Registrant returns to practicing status mid-year, the pro-rated fee plus the On-Leave fee that were already paid, will NOT be more than 100% of the full annual fee.

Policy on Payment, Removal from Register (Discontinued) and Reinstatement

  • Annual fee invoices are available by December 1st for the following year. Invoices are located on the "Invoices" tab on Registrants' online profiles for e-payment. Payment may be made by credit card only online.  For payment via cash or mail, contact the BCIA office.
  • An email is sent to outstanding Registrants after February 15th with notification of applied late fees and impending removal from the Register as "Discontinued" if monies are not paid before April 1st.
  • If fees are not paid before April 1st, a registered letter is sent via email informing the Registrant that they have been struck off the Register as "Discontinued".  Additional penalties are incurred if reinstatement is requested, and can only be done within three years from the date of leaving.
  • After three years of leaving BCIA, either as "Discontinued" or "Resigned in Good Standing," former Registrants must reapply under the current standards of the day.

Resignation in Good Standing, by submitting the appropriate form prior to the deadline, is strongly encouraged.

Reinstatement Rules: Sections 72 - 78 BCIA Bylaws.

Registrants with "On-Leave" Status Cannot Practice Agrology

Registrants on "On-Leave" status cannot use their professional designation nor represent themselves as full status actively practicing Registrants. Registrants may stay on leave for up to three (3) years before returning to full practicing status. After three years from the date of leaving BCIA, either as "Discontinued" or "Resigned in Good Standing," former Registrants must begin the application process again, instead of simply paying fees and subsequent reinstatement.

Fees for Registrants Requesting Parental Leave or Medical Leave Mid-Year

A credit will be calculated if a parental or medical request is submitted mid-year and the entire year's annual fees have already been paid.  The credit will be determined using a combination of the pro-rated yearly fees and the pro-rated Parental Leave or Medical Leave fee. The resulting credit will be applied ONLY to the pro-rated practicing Registrant fees when returning as an active Registrant. Annual renewals while On-Leave are permitted for a maximum of three years.

Note that backdating to a previous year or pro-rated quarter year will not achieve additional credits; please submit requests within 30 days of the requested start date
