As a member of the Entomological Society of Canada, he chaired the Insect Common Names Committee and Book Committee, and he co-edited the compendium "Diseases and Pests of Vegetable Crops in Canada" (1994). He served on Penticton's Agricultural Advisory Committee for six years (2008-2014), and on the Board of Governors of the AIC Foundation (now the Canadian Foundation for Food and Agricultural Education; 2014-present).
