Agrology CE – Informal

BCIA is excited to welcome you to our 2026 Virtual Symposium, a full-day event bringing an opportunity for agrology professionals to come together from across the province to explore how our profession is evolving in a rapidly changing world. This year’s theme, “Professional Practice in a Changing World,” focuses on the challenges and opportunities shaping modern agrology from Indigenous food sovereignty to climate pressures to the use of technology to shifting regulatory expectations and interdisciplinary work.

This symposium is designed to spark thoughtful conversation, practical learning, and professional connection. Throughout the day, you’ll engage with topics such as land reclamation, climate action, ethical use of AI, and navigating interdisciplinary practice under the Professional Governance Act. Expect a mix of expert presentations, panel discussions, and real-world case studies that will help you better navigate your role and responsibilities as a professional agrologist today.

We are proud to introduce our keynote speaker, Jared QwustenuxunWilliams, who will open the day with a powerful perspective on Indigenous food systems and land stewardship. Jared grew up immersed in Coast Salish cultural teachings and has worked extensively with elders to revitalize traditional Indigenous food practices. His work spans Indigenous food sovereignty, cultural knowledge, and reconciliation in agriculture. Jared has spoken at events including a TEDx talk and the UN World Food Forum in Rome, and we are honoured to have him open the day.

With the event taking place just before Halloween, expect a touch of seasonal fun, including themed activities and chances to win prizes. In addition to engaging sessions, the symposium will include a regulatory “Trick or Treat” café-style with discussions, networking opportunities, and light gamification throughout the day to keep things fun.
Join us for a day of learning, connection, and reflection as we explore what it means to practice agrology in a changing world.
