Event Attendance and Cancellations
Please let us know if you are unable to attend an event you have registered for. Our volunteers put in a lot of effort to organize these events, and we often have waitlists of people eager to join. Even for free events, there are behind-the-scenes costs. By informing us in advance, you help us manage resources and give others the chance to participate. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Why BCIA Does Not Support Event Recordings:
- Funding & Attendance Requirements:
Many of our professional development (PD) events, especially those funded by external organizations like IAF, require live attendance to justify continued funding. If recordings were widely available, fewer people may attend live sessions, which could impact our ability to secure future funding and offer these opportunities. - Intellectual Property & Instructor Agreements:
Some presenters are compensated based on attendance, and their materials are considered their intellectual property. As such, BCIA cannot always distribute recorded content without explicit permission, and in many cases, recordings are not authorized for sharing. - Resource & Staff Limitations:
Processing, editing, and managing recordings require additional time and resources. Given our current priorities, recordings are not a focus for BCIA unless there is significant demand and available staff time. - Maintaining Course Integrity:
Many BCIA courses and PD sessions involve interactive discussions, breakout rooms, and Q&A sessions that are designed for real-time engagement. Watching a recording does not provide the same learning experience, and some content may be taken out of context without facilitator guidance.
For these reasons, BCIA does not offer event recordings. We encourage registrants to attend sessions live to gain the full benefit of these valuable learning opportunities.
