REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONALLY TRAINED/EDUCATED APPLICANTS

For applicants with international credentials, the Institute requires these extra steps:

  1. A course by course education/training credential (comprehensive) assessment:
    • From a recognized credentialing service such as WES, ICES, or IQAS;
    • That includes official transcripts sent directly to the credentialing service provider by the issuing educational institution; &
    • Provided to the Institute directly from the recognized credentialing service.
  2. Course descriptions in English. Many credential evaluation centres provide this service along with the assessment of credential.

Note: The Institute does not accept unauthenticated credentials, such as:

  • Credential evaluation reports that were conducted using photocopies of original documents or original copies obtained from an applicant.
  • Translated documents derived from copies submitted to a translator by an applicant.

The above are required to:

  • Confirm that international education/training (i.e., degree, diploma) and associated courses are accepted as an international credential(s) recognized and the equivalent to Canadian education/training; and
  • Assess courses taken and submitted in an application meet the Institute's education/training definitions & requirements for the registrant category an applicant has applied for.

BCIA does not accept transcripts or third party evaluations directly from applicants. All transcripts must be sent directly to the Institute by a recognized credentialing third party service provider or a Canadian/USA educational institution.

Academic credential assessment services charge a fee for their service. These assessments are advisory and do not guarantee recognition of your qualifications for employment or regulatory purposes in Canada.
