We invite you to join us for a follow-up visit to Ramsar Berry Farm, home to British Columbia’s first commercial saffron crop. This special tour offers a unique opportunity to observe the retrieval of saffron bulbs and see how they have multiplied since planting, completing the picture for those who attended the fall and winter 2024 tours.

Led by farmer Avtar Dhillon, this session builds on the inspiring story shared during the original tours. Avtar spent six years cultivating this rare and valuable spice, overcoming major challenges—most notably the devastating 2021 flood that destroyed nearly all of the farm’s 250,000 saffron bulbs. Through incredible resilience and determination, Avtar and his family rebuilt from just two percent of their original crop.

During this follow-up visit, you’ll witness the second half of the saffron cultivation cycle: the bulb recovery process. You’ll also gain deeper insight into saffron’s growth habits, propagation methods, and how this crop is uniquely suited to thrive in BC’s climate.

Whether you joined us previously or are new to saffron farming, this tour offers a rare and fascinating glimpse into one of the world’s most valuable spices and the inspiring journey behind it.

Don’t miss this chance to explore one of BC’s most unique farms and connect with a story of perseverance, innovation, and agricultural passion.

Please note that photographs and footage will be taken throughout the event.
