Join the Kootenay Boundary Branch for a unique on-farm learning experience at Dutch Girl Peonies, a small-scale, family-run operation in the West Kootenays. This tour offers an opportunity to explore sustainable floral production practices and gain insight into over 20 years of hands-on experience growing peonies in the region.
Hosted by Adriana and Marvin Work, participants will learn about their “old school” approach to farming, which focuses on maintaining a small operation without the use of chemicals or landscape fabric. The session will include a guided farm tour and discussion on soil management, crop production, and adapting practices to local conditions. Soil testing and amendment strategies will also be highlighted as part of their long-term approach to maintaining healthy, productive fields.
This event is ideal for those interested in sustainable agriculture, small-scale production systems, and soil health management. Participants will have the chance to ask questions, share perspectives, and learn directly from experienced growers.
Come out during peak bloom season for a practical, engaging look at specialty crop production in the Kootenays.
