Join the Okanagan Branch for an engaging in-person field tour of local grassland ecosystems, led in partnership with the Grasslands Conservation Council of BC. This hands-on session offers a unique opportunity to explore native grasslands, wildfire impacts, and restoration practices in a real-world setting.
Participants will take part in a moderate hike (up to 5 km) through natural grasslands and areas affected by recent logging and the 2023 wildfire. Along the way, discussions will focus on key topics including:
- Native grassland ecosystems and biodiversity
- Impacts of wildfire on landscape and vegetation
- Invasive plant species and management
- Restoration approaches in disturbed environments
This field-based session is ideal for agrologists and natural resource professionals looking to deepen their understanding of ecosystem resilience, land management, and post-disturbance recovery.
What to Expect
