Location has now been changed to Trader's Cove Regional Park on Westside Road. The date has now been changed to 26 April.
Join Mike Dedels of the Grasslands Conservation Council of BC for an insightful and interactive walking tour exploring the complex process of wildfire recovery in grassland ecosystems.
This event offers participants a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the ecological impacts of wildfire on grasslands, the natural recovery processes, and the restoration strategies currently being implemented. Mike will discuss post-fire vegetation dynamics, erosion control, the role of salvage harvesting, and long-term planning for ecosystem health and resilience. The tour is ideal for professionals and students in agrology, ecology, land management, and related fields—as well as anyone interested in the intersection of fire, conservation, and grassland stewardship.
Due to the ongoing wildfire salvage harvesting and recovery operations in the region, the final walking tour location is subject to change. Site access will depend on safety assessments, current weather conditions, and coordination with park officials. Attendees will receive confirmation of the final location and meeting point closer to the event date.
Please dress appropriately for outdoor walking conditions and varying weather. This will be a valuable opportunity to deepen your understanding of grassland ecosystems and the critical work being done to support their recovery following wildfire.
ATTENTION articling registrants!! The in-person event will be an excellent opportunity to network and meet with other branch registrants.
