The BC Soil Information Finder tool or SIFT is an interactive story map and mapping application that provides easy access to soil survey maps, soil attributes, and agriculture capability mapping in British Columbia. This lunch-and-learn presentation will cover an overview of SIFT and the kinds of information that you can access through the tool. There will be a live demo of some of the functions and tabs available in the application followed by a question and answer period.
The presenter, Deepa Spaeth Filatow, is a P.Ag and P.Geo. She is the Provincial Bioterrain Specialist and Terrestrial Ecosystem Information Unithead in the newly minted Ministry of Land Water and Resource Stewardship, in the Knowledge Management Branch. She is one of the co-creators of SIFT and has extensive experience and knowledge about British Columbia’s soils information and data.
