BCIA Booth at the Vancouver Island Agriculture Show

The Victoria and Islands Branch participated for a second time in the Island Agriculture Show (the Show).

Our registrants asked us to support this community event at our Annual General Meeting last October. The Show was held on February 3 and 4, 2023 at Duncan's Cowichan Exhibition Centre. Our neighbours this year were 4H Canada, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Evergro and the Young Agrarians.

The Show was well attended and volunteers fielded the usual questions - what is agrology and what do agrologists do. Some consultants stopped by the BCIA booth and asked about our articling program. Parents of young adults asked how their university student or recent graduate can become an agrologist. One parent was very pleased to hear about our mentoring program. A number of farmers asked if we had a list of greenhouse consultants.

Thanks to BCIA staff for supplying the display materials and banners. A big thank you to our volunteers Kazlyn Bonner, Jack Common, Natasha Cowie, Kelly Eakins, and Daniel Lamhonwah for answering all those questions.
