Building Bridges Through Understanding the Village Workshop

This course is available to NEW BCIA Registrants only (This includes Articling, Expedited, LLAg and Dual/Transfer Registrants who have recently registered with BCIA.)

Storytelling is a traditional way of teaching and is the method used most prominently in The Village Online Learning Experience. Participants will be asked to pay attention to what resonates as they listen to the stories. The elders say that there is always an opportunity to learn more when we look for it. Traditionally the same story was told many times.

As participants listen, they are asked to try to harvest the wisdom that is in each story. Learning will be different for each participant. The online training will take approximately 4 hours to complete. The video modules are approximately ½ an hour long. At the end of each module, there are website links to explore and discussion questions for you to answer. This will deepen your learning. More information is available through the Village Workshop Series website.

To Register: Log in to the BCIA website and register using the fields at the bottom of this page.

There are four online modules:

  •  Module One: Preparing For Our Journey Together
  •  Module Two: Journey To A Pre-contact Village
  •  Module Three: Colonization Of The Village
  •  Module Four: Our Reconciliation Journey

Each module will take approximately 30 minutes to watch. There are 10-12 discussion questions at the end of each module. Participants are asked to think/ write/ draw/ and talk with a buddy or small cohort to process what they learned. Participants have two weeks to complete the online modules and prepare questions for the virtual session.

Following the online modules, there will be a two-hour virtual webinar session where the learning from the online modules will be reviewed, and questions from the online discussions will be addressed.
