Having served on many boards across a variety of fields either as a director or chair for over thirty years, I am firmly convinced that good governance is essential to healthy organizations, and healthy organizations are essential to a healthy community. It is my great pleasure to be joining an organization where "healthy" is indeed integral to the profession of agrology! I am also sensitive to the dynamics of a multi-stakeholder organization where all participants are generally in pursuit of the same goal, but perhaps with differing approaches. Listening, learning, and a balanced perspective are critical.
In 2023 I stepped down after twelve years as chair of the Health Employers Association of British Columbia, and after six years as chair of the Kay Meek Arts Society. I am currently a director of Impact North Shore, an immigrant services society. I retired after several careers, the most recent as a Senior Client Partner with the global human resources firm, Korn Ferry International. My education includes a BA in Economics and an MBA, both from Simon Fraser University. My husband John and I have a townhouse in North Vancouver, but primarily live in our home on Gambier Island in Howe Sound, the Salish Sea, on the lands of the Squamish nation. We are surrounded by nature, including raucous sea lions, garden-eating black tail deer, and the occasional pod of Orcas who come into our Bay. It keeps us in awe and humble. Our adult children, grandchildren, and friends have joined us on Gambier for over twenty years to play and occasionally to work on the many projects that define rural living. In our rainy weather season, John and I explore the world.
