A HYBRID IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL WORKSHOP
UBC Robson Square, Vancouver, BC and ZOOM
Risk-based approaches are becoming increasingly important to manage contaminated sites because they are protective and, in many situations, more cost effective than remediation to meet numerical criteria. In this workshop, we aim to catch you up on the last few years of risk assessment practice, both human and ecological. We will present, discuss and share our experiences with plenty of time for Q&As.
This year we’re doing it a bit differently, while retaining an open and collegial atmosphere. The workshop will be both in-person and virtual using advanced networking software. In addition, you will receive a survey ahead of the workshop which will ask you for topics you would like to discuss with your peers.
The morning session of this workshop will cover advances in the science of risk assessment. The afternoon session will focus on using risk-based approaches in site investigation, remediation and management while considering regulatory frameworks. On-line participants can choose to attend one or both sessions. Video recordings will be available for those that cannot attend all sessions.
Whether you are a project manager, regulator, risk assessor, site investigator, remediation specialist, or site owner – there will be content for you, with opportunities to ask questions and exchange ideas. This is the 2023 risk assessment workshop you won’t want to miss! And your attendance will qualify for professional development hours!
