This field-based course introduces the Canadian System of Soil Classification (CSSC) and other key techniques used in forestry, arboriculture, natural areas management, ecological restoration, and more. Through hands-on experience at two field sites, you'll learn to dig soil pits, interpret soil horizons, perform hand texturing, differentiate humus forms, and analyze soil properties for resource management applications. This 12-hour course is designed for professionals and students in natural sciences, ecological restoration, forestry, resource management, arboriculture, planning, stewardship, outreach, and education. Students must provide their own transportation.
