Join the Kamloops Branch for an informative afternoon at Fresh Valley Farms to explore the planning, approval, and construction process behind installing an on-farm water storage pond.
As water management becomes increasingly important for agricultural operations, this field event will walk participants through the real-world experience of developing a water storage pond—from the initial planning stages and regulatory approvals to hiring contractors and navigating unexpected challenges along the way.
Fresh Valley Farms is currently in the midst of the installation process, providing a unique opportunity to see the project firsthand while discussing the lessons learned, problem-solving strategies, and next steps with those directly involved.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Learn the key steps involved in planning and installing an agricultural water storage pond.
- Gain insight into the approval and permitting process.
- Explore common challenges encountered during construction and how they were addressed.

Presenter
Dr. Catherine Tarasoff, PhD, PAg
Dr. Catherine Tarasoff holds a PhD in Agricultural Sciences and has been working with producers throughout the region for more than 10 years. Her experience supporting on-farm innovation and applied agricultural research brings practical, producer-focused perspectives to water management and agricultural sustainability.
