Join the Cariboo Central Interior Branch for an engaging Lunch & Learn exploring how contaminated sites are investigated, assessed, and remediated. This session will walk participants through the decision-making process used by environmental professionals, from identifying initial site concerns to selecting the most appropriate remediation strategy.

Using practical examples from industry, the presentation will explain how conceptual site models guide investigations, why drilling programs are designed the way they are, and how new information gathered during investigations can reshape the understanding of a site. Participants will also gain insight into how remediation options are evaluated and selected, along with lessons learned from common challenges encountered throughout the process.

Whether you work in environmental consulting, land management, reclamation, or regulatory practice—or simply want to better understand contaminated sites management—this session will provide valuable insight into the technical and professional considerations that inform remediation decisions.

Kyum Shogren is a Professional Engineer and Practice Manager with SLR Consulting's Land Quality & Remediation team in Western Canada. With extensive experience in contaminated sites assessment and remediation, Kyum has led numerous projects involving environmental investigations, risk management, and remediation planning across a wide range of industrial and commercial sites.
