Together, we will explore shared priorities, knowledge gaps, and opportunities to improve conservation outcomes for fossorial species and the shrub-steppe and grassland habitats they depend on. This year’s event will focus on connections among habitat stewardship, restoration, fire, soils, research, and recovery of fossorial species.
Day 1 – We are excited to announce the addition of an experiential field day event hosted by the Lower Similkameen Indian Band’s Parks Working Group and ntámłqən Community Garden & Food Hub with support from TD Green Spaces on November 3rd from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT: tiɬxstm txət́stim | stand up and take care of it. Please join us for this special opportunity to be on the land, get your hands dirty, and contribute to LSIB’s grassland and shrub-steppe habitat restoration work with new friends.
Days 2 and 3 – Forum events will take place in-person at the Oliver Legion Hall in Oliver, British Columbia on November 4th and 5th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PT, with virtual participation available for presentations and selected sessions. Day two will emphasize shrub-steppe stewardship and restoration topics, while day three will focus on fossorial species (including the American badger, burrowing owls, marmots and other ground squirrels) conservation, recovery, research, and monitoring.
