This is a workshop and field day covering on-farm composting practices for small-scale producers in the North Okanagan.

The BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food and McDougall Environmental Consulting Inc. is presenting this On-Farm Composting Workshop and Field Day in the North Okanagan region.
Join knowledgeable experts for a classroom and field session to learn practical hands-on information on topics such as:
- The science behind composting,
- How to start composting and what you can put in your compost,
- How to properly site and construct a compost pile,
- How to use compost as a replacement for synthetic fertilizer,
- The benefits of compost for soil health and fertility,
- How to determine application rates, timing, and method when using compost,
- Information on soil testing and how to interpret soil test results,
- Regulatory considerations of on-farm composting
Location Information:
The classroom portion of this session (9:30 am-12:00 pm) will take place at Cambium Cider Co. (4667 E Vernon Road, Vernon, BC)
The field day portion of this session (12:00-2:00 pm) will take place at the Smith Family Farm in Vernon, BC (6852 L & A Road, Vernon, BC)
