The Kootenay Boundary Branch AGM is scheduled for Tuesday, October 24th, 2023 at Spectrum Farms, 849 Erickson Rd, Creston, BC V0B 1G3 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM Pacific Time (11:00am to 1:30pm MST). This is an in-person and virtual event.

After the AGM, please join us for lunch (12:30 – 1:30 PM PST) provided by The Real Food Café in Creston BC. Please include any dietary restrictions/ preferences in your registration. There will be no cost for lunch. Please note that the venue can only hold 30 people maximum, and registration will be first come first serve.

Following the AGM, an In-person PD event will be hosted by Jeffrey Nimmo, Kootenay Regional Agrologist for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (1:30 PM – 3:30 PM). "Introduction to the fundamentals of soil with Jeff Nimmo."

ATTENTION Articling Registrants!! This will be an excellent opportunity to network and meet with other members of the Branch.

 Agenda:

o   9:30 – 10:00 Arrival & set-up, grab coffee and tea
o   10:00 – 12:30 AGM
o   12:30 – 1:30 Lunch
o   1:30 – 3:30 PD In-person event (details to follow)  

Please note that photographs and footage will be taken throughout the Event. These will be used by BCIA for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website, newsletters, and on social media. Should you not wish to have your photo taken and used for these purposes, please advise the photographer at the time.

Nominations for Branch Executive: We are looking for nominations for the Kootenay Boundary Branch Executive! Positions up for election this year include:
o   Professional Development Coordinators (1-2 people) – 1 year term (with option to continue)
o   Secretary – current person willing to continue or step down.
o   Treasurer – current person willing to continue or step down.
o   Articling Coordinator – current person willing to continue or step down.

Being part of the Branch Executive is a great experience! You can learn about the business of the institute, help develop professional development activities that you are passionate about, add to your resume, and grow your professional network. Additionally, being part of the branch executive earns you some valuable professional development hours (5 hours)! We encourage everyone that is interested in putting their names forward. We also have an awesome new Provincial PD Coordinator, Jasmine Wong, who is ready to help with all things PD. If you would like to nominate yourself (or someone else with their permission), please forward your nomination to Hanna McIntyre at hanna.mcintyre@gov.bc.ca prior to October 23rd, 2023. Nominations should include the position of interest and a short bio/statement. Please note: Nominations will only be accepted from the floor for positions that did not receive nominations prior to the AGM.

Branch Award Nominations: This year, the Kootenay Boundary Branch Executive determined that the Willow Tree and Green Shoot Awards will now be awarded bi-annually. The next cycle of nominations for the Willow Tree and Green Shoot Awards will be in Fall 2024.

Motions: The Kootenay Boundary branch is canvassing in advance for any motions from the Branch members. All members must be in good standing to make a motion. Please contact Hanna McIntyre at hanna.mcintyre@gov.bc.ca if you would like to make a motion prior to the AGM.

Articling Registrants Needing To Do Their Oral Presentation and Newly Elevated Registrants:
If you are an Articling member that needs to complete their oral presentation at this year’s AGM, (5 minutes or less) please email Shawna LaRade at Shawna.larade@gov.bc.ca by October 14th. Your email should include a short presentation (1 slide) with a description of who you are, your area of interest/ practice, and your professional experience. Please note: All those wishing to complete their oral presentation must pre-register with Shawna (and sign up when registering online).

All newly elevated Registrants (new PAgs, TAgs and LLAgs) will be recognized for their achievements. Those required to recite their Professional Oath, please provide your name to Shawna LaRade at shawna.larade@gov.bc.ca by October 14th, 2023. Please note: Those required to recite their oath must pre-register with Shawna (and sign up when registering online). **If you have already recited your Professional Oath at a previous meeting this is not required again at this Branch AGM.
