I design agricultural ecosystems and regenerate damaged landscapes, combining ecology and agriculture with an emphasis on water management and practical ways to build soil.
My BSc in environmetrics (UBC, McGill) and MSc in ecosystem dynamics (Laurentian) led to work in research and science communication. Now, through the BC-Canada Environmental Farm Plan program (iafbc.ca), the Kootenay and Boundary Farm Advisors (kbfa.ca), and as an independent consultant, I develop plans for irrigation, riparian restoration, grazing systems, vegetative buffers, and "hugelkultur" woody debris management.
I grew up in Indonesia and my work on farms and conservation projects took me to Bhutan, Guatemala, and across Canada and the USA. My wife and I operate a small farm in Rossland, BC, with our three sons, where we raise goats and chickens, grow orchards on terraces, and propagate nursery stock.
