I have been fascinated by the ocean since my earliest memories. Odd since I was born in the prairies and raised in the north. My obsession with the ocean could not be tempered by distance and I was fortunate to have incredible personal and academic experiences that encouraged my passion and bolstered my curiosity in the marine sciences including travel, volunteer, and work opportunities. I gained a BSc in Marine Biology at the University of Victoria and at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Center and continued my studies in an Advanced Diploma in Sustainable Aquaculture at the Fisheries and Marine Institute in St. John's, Newfoundland; diving, learning, working, and honing my goals throughout. After my bicoastal taste of Canada, it was clear I belonged on the west coast. I have spent my time working in both the shellfish aquaculture industry with Mac’s Oysters (in the consecutive roles of Research Technician and Seed and FLUPSY Manager) and Pentlatch Seafoods (as Operations Administrator), and seafood processing industry with Salish Sea Foods (as Food Safety Manager). I am excited to be able to apply my knowledge and widely varied experience to the provincial government with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food in my new and extremely exciting role as a Seafood Industry Advisor!
