Open to: All BCIA Registrants
Join the CCI Branch for Podcast Club: “Cultivating Land-Based Relationships”
The CCI Branch invites you to a relaxed and engaging Podcast Club — an informal professional development opportunity where BCIA registrants come together to discuss thought-provoking podcasts related to agrology, environmental issues, Indigenous perspectives, food systems, climate change, and more.
Each session features a selected podcast episode to listen to ahead of time, followed by a facilitated virtual discussion. Whether you're tuning in during your commute or out in the field, this is a flexible and enriching way to reflect, connect, and explore diverse viewpoints in a casual, inclusive setting.
This Session’s Topic: Sow and Grow, Season 2, Episode 6 Cultivating Land-Based Relationships
Aliyah Fraser sits down with David Skene of Wisahkotewinowak to reflect on how a deeper relationship to the land around us would positively impact our decisions on land use, an often underreported cause of climate change. David says, “When land becomes a place, it is different from space.” Seeing ourselves as not separate but of, in, and with the land is a paradigm shift for white settler society and speaks to the systems-level change, or more specifically, the narrative-level change, that this moment is calling us to do.
