The VIB Branch Executive is excited to announce that our 2025 Annual General Meeting will take place at Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay on October 25, 2025. This will be an in-person only event.

9:30am - 10:00am: Check in, Coffee and Networking

2:30pm - 3:30pm: VIB PD Event: Tour of Cherry Point Estate Wines


Nominations for Branch Executive: We are looking for nominations for VIB Executive positions. Positions up for election this year at the Branch AGM include:

  • Articling Program Coordinator, 1 year term

  • Director North, 1 year term

  • Director South, 1 year term

  • Professional Development Coordinator, 2 year term (current PD Coordinator will finish their second year to help train and support this position)

  • President Elect, 2 year term - second year as President

Being part of the Branch Executive is a great experience! You can learn about the business of the institute, help develop professional development activities that you are passionate about, add to your resume, and grow your professional network. Additionally, being part of the branch executive can be used for professional development hours. We encourage everyone who is interested in putting their names forward.

If you would like to nominate yourself (or someone else with their permission), please forward your nomination to Lynn Pinnell pinnell.lynn@gmail.com prior to October 15, 2025. Nominations should include the position of interest and a short bio/statement.

Please note: Nominations will only be accepted from the floor for positions that did not receive nominations prior to the AGM.

Articling Registrants Needing To Do Their Presentation

All articling Registrants that need to complete their presentation at this year’s AGM, please forward your name to Kylie Adebar at Kylie.agrology@protonmail.com by October 15, 2025. Your email should include a short presentation (1 slide) with a description of who you are, your area of interest/ practice, and your professional experience.  

You should present at your own branch and make every effort to do so in person. The primary purpose of this requirement is to give you the opportunity to introduce yourself to your branch, foster connections, and strengthen your sense of community.

Please note: All those wishing to complete their oral presentation must pre-register with Kylie Adebar and sign up when registering.


  • Branch Award Nominations: Do you know an outstanding Agrologist? Every year the Victoria and Islands Branch recognizes an Agrologist who has made a significant contribution to the Branch or to BC agriculture, natural resource or environmental science. We are looking for Branch Agrologist of the Year for 2025, to be announced at the AGM. Nominations close October 15, 2025. Please send your nominations to Jelle Faber at jellefaber7@gmail.com.

  • Motions: The Victoria and Islands Branch is canvassing in advance for any motions from the Branch members. All members must be in good standing to make a motion. Please contact Jelle Faber at jellefaber7@gmail.com if you would like to make a motion prior to the AGM.

  • Any articling registrants looking to volunteer at the AGM, please contact Lynn Pinnell pinnell.lynn@gmail.com prior to October 15, 2025. Volunteering tasks at the AGM are likely to include: sign in desk, tech support, taking microphone to people wishing to speak.


After the VIB AGM, join us for a unique professional development experience at Cherry Point Estate Wines!

Enjoy a guided tour with proprietor Xavier Bonilla, who will share insights on sustainable viticulture, local grape production, and European winemaking traditions adapted to Vancouver Island’s climate. This one-hour session offers a behind-the-scenes look at the region’s evolving wine industry, followed by an optional tasting and networking opportunity with fellow BCIA registrants.

ATTENTION articling registrants!! The in-person event will be an excellent opportunity to network and meet with other branch registrants.

Please note that photographs and footage will be taken. These will be used by BCIA for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website, newsletters, and on social media. Should you not wish to have your photo taken and used for these purposes, please advise the photographer at the time.
